Question: What is the punishment of an adult found guilty of consensual sex w/a 15 year old and charged with a class 6 felony?
Answer: It really depends upon what the offense is specifically charged as. This answer assumes it has been charged as sexual conduct with a minor (A.R.S. § 13-1405(B)). If it is a simple class 6 felony, the range of sentencing is 6 months to 1.5 years. Arizona law (A.R.S. § 13-702.01) allows for the prison time to be decreased to 4 months or increased up to 2 years. Probation (up to 3 years) would also be available.
The person also has to register as a sex offender under Arizona law (A.R.S. § 13-3821) if they have pled guilty to the charge or were found guilty at trial. This means in some cases that their community will be notified of the fact that they are a convicted sex offender. so what are the laws for a person, regardless of gender whos 19 and sleeping with a 17 year old? or does anyone not know for sure?

I believe this law should have some flexebility for kids who are in High school and if one of them turns 18 while the other is 17 or 16 for that matter, than there should be some discretion in the law. Just because someone became 18 doesn't change their maturity level.

I agree. Being a 17 year old dating a 21 year old, the laws are there to protect us. Yes we are in love and what not, the age does not matter in our rlationship but if i didn't truely know this guy and grew up with him then the age would be a factor. If my parents did not agree, then we would not be dating.

you see, these laws were made for the good of the minors.. how sure are you that the adult is not just in it for the sexual pleasure? what if he gets the minor pregnant? anyone her 100% sure that the adult will and can support the child for 100%of those cases? i don't think so. and as adults, they should know better. most minors don't really have enough experience to know the consequences of their actions..they don't know about std or teen motherhood and not even the emotional impact it will have on them..oh guys, just a note: there are many adults out there who are merely taking advantage of
