    Question: Can your principal not allow you to dye your hair an odd color or wear heavy makeup and things like that if its not in the rules?

    Answer: Public schools are allowed to adopt reasonable rules for student dress and grooming at school. As a general rule, if what you wear or the way you look is not prohibited by the school's rules, then you can do it.

    There is, however, one important exception. Schools can always tell a student to change clothing or remove make-up if it causes a distraction or creates a health or safety concern.

    Private schools have much more latitude with regard dress codes.

    The school gives hand books at the beggining of the school year Those are the rules that you have to follow for the whole school year. That means the if a rule is made up after school starts then the rule is not actually a rule because it is not in the hand book.

    I think that hair dye should be allowed in school because by not allowing us to dye are hair is like telling us who to be. The teachers are the ones who are paying more attention to it. Us kids act like its no big deal.

The schools say they support the war well they are fighting for the freedom of our country well if i cant dye my hair what freedom do i have? I would liek to say TAKE A STAND take there rules twist them to help our fight for hair color

    when you register for classes they give you a book that your suppose to read and sign. that book has all the rules of the school in it. and if you signed that booklet and dying your hair a funky color is against the rules then yes. You can always try the freedom of expression argument.
