Question: I'm under 18 and like to race my 340sx. If street race, what are the consequences?

Answer: Regardless of if your 340sx is a motorcycle, a car or a truck, if you're caught racing on the public streets, or even if you are driving recklessly in a private area like a parking lot, you face criminal sanctions for both speeding and reckless driving, which comes with a fine and possible jail time. You could also lose you license.

Arizona Law defines 'Drag Racing' as: (a) The operation of two or more vehicles from a point side by side at accelerating speeds in a competitive attempt to outdistance each other; or (b) The operation of one or more vehicles over a common selected course and from the same point for the purpose of comparing the relative speeds or power of acceleration of the vehicle or vehicles within a certain distance or time limit.

'Racing' is defined as the use of one or more vehicles in an attempt to outgain or outdistance another vehicle or prevent another vehicle from passing.

Both are specifically against the law in Arizona (ARS §28-708), and if convicted twice in a 24-month period, there a mandatory jail sentence is required.

Drag racing is legal in AZ. Try going to Speedworld or Firebird raceway on the weekend. It costs a mere $10-$15 to enter and drag race all night. What's even better is that you get a timeslip at the end so you know how fast you trapped and what your ET was. When you have not one, but _two_ drag strips that are willing to let you race at legally and cheaply, you really have no leg to stand on as a defence to drag racing illegally anywhere on the streets; no matter if it's in a secluded industrial park or at a busy intersection.

I used to race every weekend. The adrenaline rush of winning is the best feelign in the world. ON many occasions, there might have been 20-100 cars gathered all at the "illegals". And on many occasions, the cops would break it up and just tell us to leave. 2 months ago, the cops werent so nice... They gave me a citation for "participating in speed contest" even though i was just parked on the side of the road watching. I went to court for it, and the penalty for me is 400 dollars and EIGHT POINTS on my liscense. That means BYE to driving until im 18. Right when i heard this i plead not guilty

street racing is a big thing in omaha. And the reason so many teenagers do it is because they can't gamble or drink and don't feel comfortable with their 'dance moves'. But they can drive......

I don't think it should be legalized at street lights but when you go into an idustrial park or a similar place to race it should be ok, because there are no "innocent bystanders". the only people that are there want to be there, if were off the main roads then the only people we can hurt are ourselves
