Question: If a minor is caught with alcohol and the police officer writes down their name but does not take them to the police station, will this go on their record?

Answer: The police officer has several choices in this case. Sometimes a warning is given and nothing else is done. Sometimes the name is put on a 'field card' which is used to keep track of people who frequently cause problems. The officer might also choose to write a report about the incident and then give the report to juvenile court. If through juvenile court some type of consequences are given for the offense, the record will show the consequences and will also show the person's level of cooperation.

I got my first ever drinking ticket about a month ago at a rock concert. I was spotted by a security guard drinking the last sip of a guys beer. He came up to me and asked for my ID, I told him I didn't have one so he then took me to the police which were back stage. They didn't give me a breathalizer but automaticly gave me a $155 ticket, I have a court date on August 25th. Is there any way I could get out of this and if should what should I say?

No, that's not true. Trust me I know, I've gotten one before. If they charged you with consumption of alcohol and didn't give you a breathlizer, then they couldn't follow through with that charge but all it sounds like they charged you with was minor possesion, and all you have to do is have it in your possesion to be charged with that. good luck with it all.

Well, I recieved my first MIP about a week ago. I was leaving a party with a buddy of mine and was caring a cooler containing alcohol. We were about to dump the cooler, (so that we wouldn't get caught) and at that moment a cop spotted us. We both were given a breath test. My friend blew 0.00 and I blew a 0.01, but I still was issued the ticket for being the one "in possession" My biggest concern is what my options in court will be. Will only have blown a 0.01 help me at all? Or is it a guilty or non guilty only case? I was very cooperative with the police, and this is my frst offesnse.

My daughter was at a friends cabin and older kids showed up with beer and one of them was severely drunk. He passed out by a fire and caught on fire in the middle of the night. He was severely burned. Most of the kids weren't even drinking and were alseep. When they woke up he was burned. They didn't even know most of the the older kids, weren't invloved in drinking, but couldn't leave because they didn't have a license to drive. They are being charged with MIP's. Is this right? There were no police, but the burned victim was brought to the hospital. What rights do the kids have? Everyone was
