Question: How come somebody serving a life sentence can get out early?

Answer: Sometimes a person sentenced to life in prison is given the opportunity to be released on parole. Parole is a form of supervised early release that may be granted by the Board of Executive Clemency if certain requirements are met. See A.R.S. 31-411 and 31-412. In Arizona, a person who is sentenced to life with the possibility of parole may be eligible for release after serving 25 years in prison. A person sentenced to natural life will not ever be released.

i think the prson should be in jail for life if he/she is sentenced life. What if they are in jail because they have taken someone elses life. thats not fair. They should have no earlier release. I don't agree with it at all.

There is lots of ambiguity involved in this topic. The laws regarding Life Sentence should be re-written, it would seem if one is sentenced to Life that is just what they get. What is this chance of parole stuff? Life is Life there is no in between. Write the laws and stick to them that is alot of the problem with society today. Hey would you like an apple or an orange? I'll have an apple, O.K. here's an orange. Get it?

What is the point of sentencing someone to life in prison if there is a chance of probation and being released into a community again!? Why not just sentence a certain amount of time and then release them once it's up? Life sentences with a chance of parol-leave offered if an inmate gets along with everyone and does what their told, is pointless and therefore NOT a life sentence!!! Criminal's are sentenced this severe punishment only when the crime is serious, so how is going to jail sentenced to life, then sucking up a litte, recieving a parol hearing and set free, doing you're time, and payi

Isn't a life sentence a MANDATORY sentence, therefore there is no early release?
