Question: What are the consequences, if someone stole a stop sign, and a driver got killed because of that?
Answer: If someone stole a stop sign and a person got killed as a result, the most likely result is that the thief would be criminally charged with manslaughter - i.e. recklessly causing the death of another person. See, A.R.S. 13-1103. In addition, the person could be held civilly responsible for the wrongful death of the person killed, which means that they may be required by a court to pay damages to the family of the person who was killed.

This type of thing recently happened in my area. I go to a private high school, and my school and the public school in the same town had a little 'contest' to see who could steal the most street signs. On the second day of final exams, the dean went on the PA and spoke on the subject and how ambulances from a nearby hospital wouldn't be able to find the correct streets, thus causing people that need immediate attention to die. I think that most of the stealing stopped after that, but being a freshman, I wasn't in the know.
