Question: What is the punishment for Sex with a minor?

Answer:

Sexual conduct with a minor who is under fifteen years of age is a class 2 felony and a class 6 felony with a minor who is over fifteen years of age. (ARS § 13-1405)

The punishment for sexual conduct with a minor varies depending on who the offender is and what kinds of prior convictions they may have.

In general, under Arizona Law (ARS § 13-604.01) the minimum punishment for a person convicted of sexual conduct with a minor in the first degree is a term of seventeen years in prison and registration as a sex offender.

I'm 15 and my boyfriend is 18 and we have been going out for 7months. Its been going fine and everything until my brother ended up in jail and wants to turn him in to get back at the family for what he did. I know if they do find out they will take him to jail which i think is so wrong because we are in LOVE and no one should stop us from being together if our parents don't care then the judge, law, or whatever shouldn't then. Thats what i think about it! I hope someone changes that law soon and change it to being "Its up to our parents if we are allowed or not when we are under the age of 18"

When a young teenager lies about their age in odrer to date an older person, they are not concerned with the exposuer they are placing the other invidvidual in. They lie because they know if they told them their real age, the older person would have nothing to do with them as they don't want to break the law. The younger person goes into the relationship fully aware of all the facts while the other has been deceived and lied to and now can face years in prison. The laws over reaches convicting 1st time young adults who where trapped. They are not predators, but are placed in the same category.

I had been seeing someone twice my age, I'm 20 he is 40. And now are currently married, we got married before I turned 18 and never had any sexual relations other than the typical kiss or holding hands until I hit 18. It seems so much easier to even if you're in love with the guy to wait. You will treasure the moment so much more and the relationship is stronger when you're forced to wait! Best of luck to those out there with small & large age gaps.
