Question: If your 18 years old do you have to have a permit for a certain amount of months or can just get your licsence? Do you still have to take drivers ed and all that stuff?

Answer: If you are 18, you may apply for a license with MVD. You must pass a written test, a vision test, and a road test. If you are male, you also consent to register with the Selective Service system or certify that you have already done so.

Your application to MVD must include proof of your identity, age, social security number and residency within the state. (ARS 28-3153, ARS 28-3164 and ARS 28-3168).

MVD publishes a manual outlining various driving-related laws. It includes sample questions to help prepare for the written test. The manual can be viewed at the Arizona MVD (PDF document)
