Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

I personaly think that kids 12 and up should have a way of making money. 16 is the age of people able to work. i don't get allowances and i would like to save up for my own car that i paid for. I am allowed to get a car when i make my own money and i can only get it at 16. If I have to start my job at 16 then i should have my car atleat at 18-20 years old. And it's not just cars,it could be anything. YOu don't have to be 16 or 18 to have a right mind, just give us a chance, we do have brains ya know. But only for responsible kids. Do u remeber what it felt like to be a kid? we do.
