Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

i think having jobs for 13 year olds are a good thing it teaches them the the values of money and how to be responsible and it gives them i scense of pride. yes i am 13 years old and no i don't think that should effect the decsion. i think that we should have jobs so we don't have to ask for money everytime u want something besides it will show how hard thier parents work to support them.

How are kids 13 years old going to learn the values of money if their pairnets keep giving it to thm they didnt work for it and will just never get a job and keep asking for more money. They will never get the sence that there parents worked hard for the money. Change the laws and 13 year old kis will learn. Please change the law.
