Question:

How old do I have to be and where can I get a work permit?

Answer:

The Industrial Commission may, by regulation, declare ay occupation to be dangerous, or injurious to the health and morals of persons under sixteen years of age and prohibit the employment or allowance to work in, about or in connection with the occupations by such persons unless a variance is granted. There are many restrictions for minors under 18 years of age The best course of action is to contact the Director of Labor at the Industrial Commission in your state. For Arizona the Industrial Commission numbers are 602-542-4653 or 602-542-4515. Explain your situation and what type of work you are seeking. Your potential employers and perhaps you also, will probably need to fill out some paperwork (application for variation) depending on the type of job, the number of hours, and environment that the job is located in.

The reason i think it is stupid that 13 year olds cannot get a job is because it is not fair that we have to wait until were 14-15 we also need some money just so we dont always have to ask every one for money when we can be making some just like everyone else.

As i was reviewing the comments the first one which says letting 10 year olds having a job is out of question. I remember when i was like 9 that i wanted a job to get power ranger toys and stuff. But everyone has made a point that 14/15+ year olds should be able to get a job. Most 14 year olds are now going to be going on to high school. Now thats when things come in to play. Think about it, A Car, Gas money, pleasure trips, Weekend Cash, Cell Phone bill, pager bill, etc.. I think 14 year olds should be able. I dont think younger than that.... because if they did have a job and something goes

We are 10 years old trying to make a leaf-raking buisness but its just too hard! 10 year old girls should have the right to get money and spend it at the mall too you know! Just because we are younger dosen't mean we shouldn't be able to have a job like older kids!

I am 13, And I have the qualifications for any electronics store, but I am too young, but I need a job, so I can get money to build the projects I want to do. I also think it is really unfair for us 13 and 14 year-olds to not be able to get money, My friend also needs a job, he is 14, and his family is not doing well. He will lose his computer, his house, and his cars. I am not happy with the laws against minors getting jobs
