Question: Is it illegal for me to walk around with my shirt off?

Answer: It depends on what gender you are.

If you are male, there is no state law prohibiting you from walking areound with your shirt off. However, there might be specific city ordinances defining when you must wear a shirt (for example in a restaurant).

Laws are more stringent for females. Arizona law (ARS 13-1402) about 'indecent exposure' prohibits females from exposing 'the areola or nipple of her breast or breasts and another person is present.' Indecent exposure is a class 1 misdemeanor and indecent exposure to a person under the age of fifteen years is a class 6 felony.

I agree with JB.People should choose how they want to look, even if they want to walk around topless. i know this may offend some peole, but people say offensive things every day, and what would it hurt. I think it would stop some of the teasing about bra sizes and how so-and-so has a nice rack. I think the government should stay out of my closet, and away from me if they don't like how I look. But I do think that businesses should be allowed to choose what you must wear to enter their building, or property. And the law SHOULD be the same for men and women.

I agree that women should have equal rights as men.... if men have nipples and may show them then why is it illegal for a woman to do the same? Our culture is messed up. But how can we change it?

I am not sure that goes for all states. When I go to the beach I see canadians all the time with their tops off and I never see them get a ticket I read somewhere that it is legal for a woman to walk in public topless where ever a man can so long as she does not act in a lude manner.
