Question: At what age can a person legally apply for a name change?

Answer: Change of name is a special action under A.R.S. §§ 12-601, 602. For change of name of a minor (under 18 years of age and not emancipated), a parent or guardian ad litem may file an application in the court located in the county of the minor's residence. The court will consider the best interests of the minor as well as some other crieteria found in A.R.S. § 12-601(C).
