Question: If you tell a cop that you want an attorney present when you're questioned (now they can't question you) What will happen to you?

Answer: If you tell a cop that you want to speak with an attorney, then you are right that they can not keep questioning you.

What happens to you after that depends on whether or not you get arrested. If the police have a reasonable belief that a crime has been committed and that you have a committed the crime, then they can arrest you.

Once you are arrested, you will probably be turned over to your parents and given a citation. Other times, if it is really serious and your parents can't be reached, you may be taken into custody. However, if after you tell the cop that you want to speak with an attorney, and if they don't have any reasonable belief that you committed the crime, then they must let you go.
