Question: What types of new laws do I have now that I am 18?
Answer: When a person turns eighteen years of age, there are several mechanisms that begin and certain legal rights or privileges that take form. Probably the most important is the right to vote. Another is the right to enter into contracts. And, along with the ability to enter into contracts, the young adult may want to start building a credit history. This is also the minimum age for being drafted into the armed services for combat duty. Of course, it is well known that once eighteen, a person may be tried in a criminal court as an adult. And, while considering criminal consequences, keep in mind that if the person who just turned eighteen is dating a minor, the adult may be committing a criminal act, which, if prosecuted, could result in criminal penalties and sex-offender status for the rest of their life (read more...). Also, if the person had a criminal record as a minor, they may wish to petition the court to have their record expunged as an adult (read more...). The 'fine print' on being eighteen is complicated as it involves every aspect of the law and social custom. As it is always better to be safe than sorry, now is good time to start asking exactly these types of questions.

I think you should stop taking things away from your daughter and start giving to her. Give her some attention, let her know that you want to know everything in her life, and though you may not be happy with everything she does you will be behind her. When she starts to see things your way, she will value your opinions on her dirtbag boyfriends. Or send her to boot camp
