there is not an actual age for sex to be legal. It on what you think about it. but I think you should wait until marriage before having sex.

What about if a 16 year old has consensual sex with a 32 year old? But, then realizes he was manipulating her, and lying, and now she wants to press charges? do you believe she should since it is half way her fault? what can be done?

I have never been in a relationship with a minor, but I have been researching this topic for an argumentative writing course, and I feel it necessary to post my point of view. in your comment posted earlier, parents should make a decision on whether or not teens have sex since teen moms cannot take care of a baby themselves. Did the concept of contraceptives ever cross your mind? Maybe if we talk openly about sex, and teach them how to protect themselves from pregnancy and disease, there wouldnt be an issue. Further more, is teen pregnancy the REAL reason for statutory rape laws?

if there were no laws against having sex underage, you'd have 45 year olds having sex with 6 year olds. Personally, I believe that if you are old enough to decide, that you can handle the consequences to your actions, you are old enough to do what you like. If you're over 16, then no one will make a big fuss. Unless your parents feel the relationshp inappropriate, and they press charges, then your lover is in trouble. 16 years old and 40 years is a no go. I believe that you can sleep with someone up to 4 years older or younger legally.
