Question: What trouble would you get in for setting off fireworks?

Answer: You could be charged with various misdemeanors such as criminal mischief or disturbing the peace. If your fireworks caused any damage to property, you could be charged with destruction of property. There are also state and municipal ordinances which ban the use of fireworks unless it is done by a professional licensed company. The worst case scenario is that the use of fireworks injures another person. In that case, assault charges may be brought.

Just to add to that comment about getting a warning thats not true. I got busted tonight for having possession of illegal fireworks, and the cops asked who it belonged to so my friend said it was theirs so now they have to go to court. This really is a horrible last day of the summer.

One night a bunch of friends an me where setting of fireworks and the neihbors called the cops on us. When the cop showed up we all walked up there and talked to him. All we got was a warning but he said that if it ever happened again or if he got another complaint he would cite us all. So most of the time you only get a warning at first.
