Question: Why are the new laws for juveniles so tough?

Answer: The new laws for juveniles were put into place as a result of a proposition that Arizona voters approved in 1996. It was called the Stop Juvenile Crime Initiative. This initiative added a section to the Arizona constitution 'in order to preserve and protect the rights of the people to justice and public safety'. By voting for Proposition 102, the citizens of Arizona said that they want to feel safe from violent crime.

I feel that some kids that do the crime shouldnt be punished as adults because, that will just make them more isolated and will have some angry feelings when that kid comes out. They must of been peer pressured to the crime we dont know their lives and we sure dont have the right to send them away for 10-20 years behind bars. We need to educate them outside of jail and inside to make them be better citizens.

I think that this is wrong to punish them really bad because lets say a child got sent to jail for life when they are a adult they are going to really going to regret it and they were punish for something they did as a kid. We don't know right for wrong, yet.

i am a child myself im in social studies doing a report on the laws of juveniles in proson. i believe that kids are well aware of the harm that they cause and should be puniseh for their wrong doings they put this on themselves and they choose to make wrong decisions and they can, and will learn from it if they are punished. "they say there is no hope fo rhte youth but the truth is that there is no hope for the future"- 2pac he may bave been a rapper but he spoke the truth rap dosent cause kids to make bad decsions, its the kids choice. *~*AMY*~*

I think that the laws for juveniles should be just as tough as those for adults. Juveniles know just as well as adults what is right and wrong, and they should be punished.

I think that it is good that we have laws, but don't you think that our kids should have the right to know the results of these laws , because alot of kids even their parents do not know as much as they should about the outcome because you can have a perfectly good kid make a mistake and his life is in the toilet, his name birth date even his address is printed in the paper for any petafile to find him and leaves the family open to any kind of crime because our system thinks it should be public notice.
