Question:

Can I operate a motorized skateboard at age 14?

Answer:

Motorized skateboard use is covered by city laws. In general, city laws require motorized skateboard riders to be at least 14 years old, follow traffic signs and rules and wear a helmet while riding it. See a sample of motorized skateboard laws in the laws section of this website. To be sure, check with your local police department to find out about laws concerning motorized skateboards in your community.

In my state your not allowed to ride on any public roads. I ride all the time...I rode from my house to the subway which is about 8 miles away and on a main road. I passed 4 cops who just looked at me. If a cop ever pulls me over..I'm takin my key and I'm running...and what's with this permission slip from your parents thing..I'm so against this...as long as you are not an idiot I think you can ride a Goped®...it's not like I'm going to rob a bank and out run the cops with it..what are they thinking..I'm out..

I just got a Goped® and it took me up to 2 1/2 years to save up for it. Now the cops say I cannot ride it on the street so I ride it on the sidewalk and they gave me a ticket. They ride their motorcycles on the sidewalks because they know they can get away with it.

I live out here in Ft. Lauderdale and all the cops want to do is annoy kids on Gopeds® because it makes their jobs more fun. Why don't they just leave us alone?
