Question:

What law is broken when you toilet paper a house?

Answer:

In Arizona, A.R.S. §13-1603 states that if you throw, place, drop or permit to be dropped on public or private property any litter, destructive or injurious material and do not immediately remove it, you can be charged with a misdemeanor (jail time and a fine) or a felony (prison time and a fine) depending upon what was placed on the property. Toilet paper could be considered 'litter' and therefore, toilet papering a house might result in being charged with a crime under this statute. Most states have similar laws - you could call your local police department and ask about the laws in your state.

I think toilet papering should be illegal. Whether you guys think its fun or not, yes its illegal and you can't change that. Its not harmless fun because it takes work to take the paper out of the trees and off of the house and out of the yard, and if it rains out of nowhere, then it sticks to your house shutters and the trees, and you have to work harder if not pay someone to get it out for you. Ive never had my house TPed bu my friends do it and I think its wrong, and im glad its illegal.

Yes, but it is harmless and it can easily be cleaned up not like shooting and killing or something big like that. Yes, it's irritating, but that's it. I think it should be legal.

This is an example of things getting carried away. TPing is an American past time! Should someone go to jail for it? No! Not unless it's malicious and is something that happens several times! It's not pretty... so someone has to clean it up... that's the part no one wants... USUALLY, when you're caught, you clean it up. I imagine if it got so far as a judges bench, he'd be irritated enough to have you cleaning up steets as "community service" as well as cleaning up the TP. So come'on people lets get real! We have real criminals to deal with!
