Question: How long is a Life Sentence?

Answer: A life sentence lasts for the rest of that person's natural life. This means that if the person is convicted and sentenced at 30 years old, he will remain in prison until he dies, which could be 50 or more years. If a person is convicted at age 60 and receives a life sentence, he will remain in prison until his death which could be only 10 or 20 years.

It depends on the state/country. Life can mean life, but with the option of parole after X amount of years. Then there is life without option of parole. This can be appealed but generally means that the person will remain in prison for the remainder of their natural lives. Life can also mean 20 years and then you are free. It varies from place to place.

This is a good site. Now, you can receive two life sentences because of what your are convicted of. Ex: Two murders at two differant times but you got away before your first trial>>>So you are still responsible for both murders right...

that law is ok if the person is in presion for a good reasion. if the person that is in presion got put there for some thing that he did not do that is wrong. if he got put there for some dishonest cop that dident want to lose his gob and wanted to destroy some persons life. I think that that cop shoud have a life sentenes not the person. All the dishonest cops shoud have a life sentenes for making people think that they are a nice helping cop. AND THERE IS DISHONEST COPS!!!

I don't understand how a 16yr old could be given Natural Life. The system is saying this person could never be rehabillitated. How could this young person never be reform back to the world? But you have grown people going thru a revoling door of crime, over & over again.

well actually most people with only one life sentence get out on parole after about 20 years as long as they havent comitted any major offenses in prison, so you're wrong.
