Question: What would be the consequences of ignoring a court order?

Answer: The consequences of ignoring a court order really depends on what type of court order it is. For instance, if one violated visitation rights granted by a court order, the consequence could simply be a finding of contempt of court. However, when one intentionally and knowingly violates a restraining order, this is a serious matter. That person could be charged with a felony crime and face up to 2 1/2 years in jail plus community supervision time.
