A "Kendo Stick" is a solid piece of oak in the shape of a sword....I should know i own one. A Shini is what you were talking about....a bamboo stick made to not hurt. Kendo's hurt like all hell, and if you hit someone in the head with one hard enough you can kill him.

umm.. a "kendo stick" cannot be used to kill. It is designed to not hurt - it is hard to even inflict a large bruise with it. it is made of springy bamboo pieces that are tied togeher. when used to hit, it gives way and, is therefore safe. it is not the same thing as a baseball bat. .. hahh...
