Question: Can minors be charged with animal cruelty?

Answer: Yes. Juveniles can be charged with animal cruelty. Depending on the severity of the neglect, abandonment or mistreatment, a person who violates the animal cruelty statute can be guilty of either a class 1 misdemeanor or a class 6 felony.(ARS 13-2910). A juvenile committing these acts would be guilty of a delinquent act - an act by a juvenile which if committed by an adult would be a criminal offense.(ARS 8-201). Depending on the age and the past history of the offender, an act of animal cruelty classified as a class 6 felony could result in the juvenile being charged with the adult offense rather than a juvenile delinquent act. (ARS 13-501).

Whatever type of kid would hurt an animal, I don't know, a sickened child most likely, but surely they should be punished and taught a lesson. Why don't you re think that over John? How are dogs companions with people? I don't know HOW you could think that they only have basic senses. Wow, I'm so mad about this, I can't think right now. Just think over the stupidity you wrote.

Some are obviously misinformed about the depth to which animals have been scientifically proven to possess feelings of anger, fear, compassion, etc. Even most ordinary people who have direct contact with animals freely concede the reality of animal emotions. Their belief arises from the evidence of their senses and logical deduction. A person who hears birds attacking a cat near their nest usually experiences them as angry. When we see a squirrel flee from us, we think that it is afraid. We see a cat licking its kittens and feel it loves them. We see a bird throbbing with song and suppose it t

Cruelty aimed at animals can quickly turn to violence toward humans. These people need help, and society needs to be protected from these maniacs! Only 2 days ago, my dog was tied up with duct tape, thrown in the dumpster, and left for dead! Thank God, my dad was throwing away her waste and found her!! She was VERY close to death! She seems fine now, but I fear what could have happened had we not found her even 5 minutes later....... Yes, she is JUST an animal, but so are we all, right? The thought of finding my dog dead brings out alot of my feelings.

Yeah,I'm sure animals have no "feelings" but the people who are perpetrating the crime sure do.Most serial killers and school shooters were cruel to animals.
