Question: What are a child's rights when they knew about a bomb threat but did not participate in it?

Answer: Not reporting knowledge of a bomb threat could be a violation of school rules. If a student is accused of breaking a rule, his or her parents can ask for a hearing. If the person helped plan or encouraged the bomb threat in any way, he or she could be breaking a law. A person questioned about a bomb threat does have the right to refuse to talk or can ask to first talk privately with his or her parents, guardian, or lawyer. This is a potentially serious offense.

I think if you knew about a bomb then you should go to the school administration and say, "Someone set us up the bomb!"

That is right. We are kids, not adults. Get real. We don't have the same rights. Can you vote? No. Are schools different from other places? Yes

maybe the timid ones should band together for their own good. Always travel in packs. Works for us.

So, in other words, if you don't tell the principal about how your friend Bobby was joking around about blowing up the school and get Bobby into trouble, he might throw the book at you. In this political climate, children in our schools cannot speak freely.
