Question: If there is a huge sidewalk and a tiny bike lane is it illegal to ride on the sidewalk?

Answer: No. There is no Arizona law that prohibits people from riding bicycles on the sidewalk. In general, people on bicycles must be careful of pedestrians and follow the same traffic rules that cars must.

Cities and towns in Arizona may have specific laws that cover bicycle safety (such as requirements for wearing bicycle helmets). You are encouraged to contact your local police department to find out more about your town's local bike laws.
