Question: What crimes can get the death penalty?
Answer: In Arizona the only crime that gets the death penalty is First Degree Murder.
There are two types of first degree murder;
1) premeditated murder, and
2) felony murder, which is a death which occurs while the accused is committing another offense, including sexual conduct with a minor, sexual assault (rape), child molest, certain drug offenses, kidnapping, burglary, arson, robbery, escape, child abuse, unlawful flight from law enforcement. Basically if you are in the process of committing one of the above crimes, and you cause the death of a person, you are guilty of first degree murder, for which you could receive the death penalty.

Two wrongs do not make a right. If it were my daughter that was murdered, yes I would want her killer to be tortured and killed. However, what would that solve. It would not bring my daughter back or make living any easier. It is revenge. Agreeing to the death penalty make one no better than the other.

yeah, i agree with you, but the thing is the death penalty costs a lot more than life encarceration. I wish it didnt, because they don't deserve to live, but it is just wayyy smarter financially to just make the maximum sentence lifetime encarceration.

That doesnt mean that somone should have to put the person to death who killed a family member. thats just more deaths on the hands of inocent people. just let the convict rot in prison in regret of what he did. thats worse than death.
