Question: What offenses are handled by the Indian Court?
Answer: Only misdemeanor criminal offenses in which the defendant is a Native American are handled in tribal courts. The federal government handles most, if not all, felony offenses, alleged to have been committed by tribal members and all felony offenses committed by non-Indians on tribal land.
