Question: Is there any way I can be sure that I get to live with only one of my parents in a divorce case?

Answer: These decisions are generally based on what is best for the child whose parents are getting divorced. The judge makes the final decision. Often the parents agree and the judge supports their decision. If the parents do not agree, the judge will try to figure out what is best. Sometimes the judge will ask to talk to the kids and sometimes the parents request that the judge talk to the children involved. Usually, if a judge decides that a child should live with just one parent, the judge will order visits with the other parent.

Unfortunately a lot of the times children don't get to live with the parent they want, but sometimes it works for the child. Wether a child should decide who to live with I believe that the age factor of the child should be consicered. Sometimes the child thinks they know who they really want to be with but this might be a bad decision in the future.A child should have a say but age should be considered.

i think that kids should have a say in where they live. We dont have any say in our future and this is unfair to many teens like me who know who they want to live with. We need a say.
