Question: Is it legal for parents to lock their kids out if they don't come home by curfew?

Answer: There is no law in Arizona that authorizes parents to lock their kids out if they do not come home by curfew. BUT, as you know, kids can be prosecuted for breaking the curfew laws.

Katie, parents want to know you are home on time, so they don't worry. If you are not there, they will think all kinds of things (like an accident, an attack on you, death, drugs, sexual assault, and more..), because they care about you. They are your parents, after all! If they were unable to raise you, and take good care of you, you wouldn't grow up in their home old enough to say that they don't know how to take care of you! None of your friends care and love you as much as your parents! They would be ready to use you, and have good time with you, but they remain with you and take care

If you don't want rules (even if you are having such a good time) move out of your parents house and get a place of your own! That's what I did. In the mean time follow rules until you able to make your own!

My dad locked me out a couple times on nights that I wasn't home at the time he wanted me home. Things come up, and sometimes kids simply can't be there every time the parents want. As long as the kids are safe, why does it matter what time the kids are home? I have never understood curfew rules for that reason. I have been out many times past curfew having a good time with friends and being responsible and careful. Why does it matter what time their home?
