Question: How old do I have to be to choose who I live with?

Answer: The judge makes the final decision in custody cases. Sometimes the judge will ask to talk to the kids and sometimes the parents request that the judge talk to the children involved. Usually, if a judge decides that a child should live with just one parent, the judge will order visits with the other parent.

I want to live with my dad b/c my mom is in some finacial difficulty and I want to be able to help. If i were to move to Tennessee with my dad then I would always have a good job, be able to help my mom,and I would finally have a relationship with my dad (b/c my mom didn't want me to really have any contact with him at all b/c he's never paid child support, but the thing is when he has given her money, I don't know where it goes.) I love my mom sooo much, but I want a relationship with my dad now, he loves me, and he has changed, he's more mature now. I want to give gifts to family and friends

I have been living with my mom since i was 4 years old when my mom and dad got a divorce.I go to see him every other weekend, and he lives with his girlfriend in another town. i hate living with my mom , because she thinks im a bad kid, and wont EVER trust me about things, and my dad is the total opposite of her. i just wish there was someway i could move in with him. in three years ill be old enough to move out on my own, so i think that im mature enough to pick where i want to spend the rest of highschool.
