Question: I am 16 and I want to know if I can marry a international who is 21 if my parents say it is ok?

Answer: The laws governing if you can get married are dependent on where you get married. For instance, if you get married in another country, you must follow the laws regarding marriage in that country. If you get married in Arizona or any other state in the U.S. you will have to follow the state's specific laws about marriage.

In Arizona it is legal for people under 18 years of age to marry if they have the consent of their parent or guardian. The permission of one parent is enough, but it must the the one with custody of the minor to be married if the parents are living apart.

In Arizona people under 16 years of age may not marry unless they have the consent of their parents and of a superior court judge.

Please consider not only whether this is legal, but whether it's a good idea. Why does a 21-year-old "foreign" want to marry someone in 10th grade? The marriage doesn't seem to hold a lot of promise.

Yes, you can marry (in the U.S.). I just wonder if a younger person could get married with the parents' approval, in any case!
