Question: What are the consequences if I leave home before I turn 18 years old?

Answer:

If a person under 18 leaves home without permission from a parent or legal guardian, he or she can be prosecuted as an incorrigible child (A.R.S. § 8-201(15)(c)). Some of the potential consequences of being found incorrigible include being fined, be placed on probation, and being ordered to do community service. The specific charges and consequences are left up to the officer of the court.

Hey well I have some problems at home too, and what I was told is that if you are 17 you are legally charged as an adult so if you did runaway the cops should not make you go back or fine you, but it all depends on where you live so please check at the local police station or try to get emancipated but whatever you do try to be careful and good luck to all of yall. I know what you are going through.

OK MOM, you might think it is not good to move out or to try and grow up early, but some children do not have anything else. they might live in an abusive home, or live with a mom who only cares about her boyfriend. Not all situations are the same. some kids are not trying to simply grow up faster. they might not have a choice in the matter.
