Question: Can a lawyer interview a child without their parent's consent?
Answer: In Arizona nothing prevents a lawyer from interviewing a child. There are no lawyer ethical rules that would prevent this and there does not appear to be any laws that prevent it. In fact Arizona Law (ARS §13-4252) allows a statement of a child to be recorded and admitted into evidence in a trial and does not mention any requirement that the child's parents' be present or informed of the recording.

Lawyers should get the parent's permission first because then we could use this in our debate!
