Question: What happens if child support is not paid?

Answer:

Consequences for not paying child support include:

 -- Suspension of your Driver’s License-A.R.S. 25-320.01

-- Suspend or take away Professional, Occupational or Recreational Licenses

A.R.S.25-320 K states boards that issue Professional, Occupational, or Recreational Licenses and/or Certificates will keep social security numbers on file so as to aid the Department of Economic Security in locating parents or to enforce child support orders.

-- Mandatory wage withholding (keeping part of each paycheck)

-- Intercept state income tax refund (keeping part of a tax return)

-- Liens against real and personal property

-- Non payment reported to credit reporting agencies

The Federal Department of Health and Human Services has great information on their website specific to Child Support enforcement in Arizona.

The Department of Health and Human Services also has a downloadable comprehensive guidebook for child support enforcement that covers many more related topics.
