Question: Can gays adopt in AZ?

Answer:

The law in Arizona (ARS § 8-103) states that “any adult resident of this state, whether married, unmarried, or legally separated is eligible to qualify to adopt children. A husband and wife may jointly adopt children. ”

However, it is important to note that the child would still only have one legal parent. In addition, these children would not be entitled to additional health and social security benefits or inheritance rights. In the event of a separation, the child would not be entitled to child support from the non-legal parent and only the legal parent would have custody rights.

There are many things that gay or lesbian parents can do in order to protect the child later. An attorney can help them draw up the papers necessary to prevent the potential problems that may arise from a separation.

I believe in gay marriage & gay rights. However, being a child growing up with two same sex parents, whether people would like to admit it or not, is going to be tormenting & hard on the child. He/she WILL be teased & they WILL be singled out. I'm on the fence on this one, but don't think about homosexuals rights necessarily, think about the childrene

If a person(s) believes he/she can care for a child in the right matter then they should have that right no matter what gender they like.

I think that no matter what your sex is if you can give the love and support that a child needs why not adopt one. I myself no plenty of people who can't have kids and adopting is the only choice that they have. Homosexuals are Americans too.

When I was in school, I did a debate on this. IF THEIR ARE KIDS UP FOR ADOPTION, then whos to say we need to make MORE. The kids don't have the parents they need already. I think whether you have adopted kids, or your biological kids, they're still your kids, still have feelings. Love is love, no matter what sexuality you are, and you should be able to be treated equaly, it's discrimination not to be.
