I've actually checked this out. In SC, a 17-year old may choose where he/she lives, but parents still have "responsibility" for the child until 18 (17, 6 months). The police won't get involved, they can't/won't pull you from where you are (unless they think you're in danger). They won't force you to go home. Parents could take court action to get you back, though. Pyschological evaluation ordered by the court is the first step. But in most cases, unlikely. Do check with a lawyer (legal aid will advise free), the police and social services to verify in your state.

ya im going through this right now.. i left my house and tryin to stay with my friend and b/f but their mom won't let me cuz she is worried that my dad will call the cops or something and she will get in trouble sence i am not 18,.. i will be though in a little less then 5 months.. but idk.. right now i have no place to live.. im living home to home.. for a couple of days.. here and there.. till my b/f can get his own place..
