Question: I have a friend that has an abusive relationship with her mother. Child prottective services have been called by her school at least once but her mom always denies it, is thier anything she can do?

Answer:

First, if the mother is physically abusive to your friend, your friend should call the police at the time of the physical abuse.

Second, I recommend you or your friend continue to contact Child Protective Services (CPS) online or at 1-888-767-2445. The CPS web site explains the criteria required for Child Protective Services to start an investigation and might explain what CPS did the first time they were called by your friend's school. The criteria for CPS to take action is: "a person presently under the age of eighteen (18) is the subject of physical, sexual or emotional abuse, neglect, abandonment or exploitation which a parent, guardian or custodian has inflicted, may inflict, permitted another person to inflict or had reason to know another person may inflict...."

Finally, continue to encourage your friend to report the abuse to other adults like teachers, police, adult family members, doctors, etc.

the sad thing about that is you report you parent and then they send you back then you get it hard after that. because the system does not always work the way it should.
