Question: I am seven years old and my parents want to get rid of me. Can they do that?

Answer: Parents have a duty to support their children and to care for them. If they are not doing this they can be charged with criminal conduct, and their child can be taken away from them. You do not say what makes you think that they want to get rid of you. It is not an easy or pleasant thing to lose or get rid of a child.

They can put you up for adoption if they can find a family that wants to adopt you.

Child Protective Services can investigate if they get a report that your parents are neglecting or abusing you. They can then take you away and put you in a foster home.

If you are suffering from neglect or abuse you should talk to someone at your school like a teacher or counselor, at your church, or simply call the child abuse hotline at 1-888-SOS-CHILD or 1-888-767-2445.

grow up if you want a dog wait until you move out and then get one it is not your right to demand a pet from your parents what about the rights of your parents to do the best they can to raise you and your brother be glad you have a parent who loves you and not a foster family who only wants the money they get for taking care of you.

Although a sad but true story, children are often made to beleive that they are not wanted many times that is caused by the harshness of reality. Children with there ears always open hear things that Parents dont realy mean to say.Many times my parents have become upset and spoken with the wrong train of thought but, never would they want to do away with me. you see parents are made to help you and if they dont want you it is not because of anything you have done but because many adults have a hard time carring for themselvs neverless a child that they dont trully understand.God bless You :)..

when i read this qestion it made me cry and sombody said the family just got mad and ended up saying it well even so they have no write to say that and i hope they are truly ashamed because thats going to stay with that 7 year old! for ever and its the parents responsibility to treat the child with respect espsaily if the child at the age of 7! i would like to see how the parents would react if there little boy really got taken away !
