Question:

My mother has my name on a protective order against my Dad and now that I am 18 I plan on living with my Dad but I don't want to get him in any trouble. Since I am 18 now can I just go live with him or do I need to get my name off of the order? If I do, how do I get my name off of the order?

Answer:

If a protective order is in effect, only the court can modify it.  If you are 18 or older and wish to remove your name from a protective order, you will need to go to the court where the protective order was issued and ask for instructions on how to modify it (to remove your name only).  Typically, the courts have packets and instructions for modifying the protective order.  You may have to appear before the assigned judge to explain why you want the protective order modified. To find a court in your county, you can go to the Arizona Supreme Court, Courts Locator.
