Arrested

Can a cop tell that u cant call you parents?

Yes.  There is no law in South Carolina that requires police to let a juvenile that has been taken into custody call his or her parents.  However, the police are required to call the parents and let them know that they have their child in custody.  The juvenile does have the right to an attorney.

Usually, the juvenile will be released to the parents.  In some cases, where the juvenile has committed a serious offense, the juvenile will not be released to the parents.  However, this usually only happens where the juvenile has committed a violent offense or has a prior record.
