Question:

I have two questions, What does the Arizona law say about methamphetamines, And What are signs/characteristics/behaviors that someone is using this drug?



Answer:
Arizona law classifies methamphetamine as a dangerous drug (A.R.S. §13-3401) and makes it a crime to knowingly use, possess, buy, sell, transport, or manufacture. It is also a crime to possess the equipment or chemicals to manufacture Methamphetamine. (A.R.S. §13-3407). The criminal penalties for violation of the laws are harsh and include significant prison time and fines. (A.R.S. §13-712).
 
Methamphetamine users may exhibit any of the following behaviors:
  • Anxiety
  • Increase in energy & alertness
  • Irritability or aggression
  • Dilated pupils or other changes in vision-a user’s eyes may dart back and forth.
  • Shortness of breath
  • Abnormal sweating
  • Chemical odor on the breath
  • Changes in speech—a user may have bursts of energy
  • Compulsion—a user may become overly clean or repetitive with actions
  • Mood changes- a user may change from being extremely friendly to being hostile or aggressive.
  • Withdrawal- a user may begin to distance his or herself from friends and family. A user may also become depressed.
  • Changes in friends
In addition, users may exhibit the following physical symptoms:
  • Poor hygiene
  • Body sores
  • Severe Weight Loss
  • Extreme Depression
  • Meth-Mouth: Meth reduces saliva in around the teeth. This combined with the fact that users typically consume excessive amounts of sugared, carbonated soft-drinks, neglect brushing, and grind teeth results in meth mouth.
