Question: Are Tattoos and body piercing allowed to be shown? Ok in School?

Answer: Tattoos and body piercing are considered to be an expression of thought and are protected by the first amendment right to free speech (United States Constitution).

However, people under 18, because of their age and status as minors, are subject to rules which adults are not.

This true of school rules and attendance. At school, rules can be made that tattoos, piercing, clothes or hair-color must be covered or changed, and these rules are not unconstitutional.

Parents also have a right to control the behavior of children, and so can order their children to not display tattoos, piercing, or other things such as hair color.

you cant bame the piercing for the scar. it got ripped out so maybe you should have been a little more care and besides you sat in the chair to get it done then whatever you did or what happened to get it ripped out is your fault.

some of you have been talking about tatoos and piercings at middle school ages.. That really desturbs me because a piercing more so a tatoo tell people that you are a certain age, which could be a big risk to your safety. A man sees you have tats so he expects you to be a certain age. Not only that but many kids and I mean kids get tats and then reget them ,14 or 15 and have a tat... i dont think its a good thing. i didnt get my first piercing until i was 16, my cousin is 14 and just got a piercing it scares me because it gives a child the illusion of being grown up ... suggestion watch "13"

Also some piercings leave scars ... I had got a surface above my belly button the actual pierced skin was about two inches long... well it got ripped out and now i have a scar two or more inches long.. which i have to either keep for the rest of my life, get it covered with a tat or get surgically removed!!! so im just saying think twice.
