Question: For truancy can the juvenile court send you to lock-up if I haven't been in any kind of trouble before?

Answer: Most laws related to behavior give courts a wide range of possible consequences for the offender. The judge can pick between the options, using their judgment as to what will best cause the offender to stop their self-destructive actions and reform their behavior. Even the slightest crimes allow a judge to give fines or jail time. Judges can certainly send someone to lock-up if the judge decides that is the best way to get the offenders attention. Community service, fines, and mandatory educational programs are other possibilities.

Ian calm down. It's not considered truancy unless you've missed about 5-7 full days or 10-14 half days unexcused.

I was recently put on probation for truancy, but this isn't my first time getting into trouble. I'm drug tested bi-weekly for possetion of marijuana charges from last year and i'm also on a CINS. (Child In Need of Service) June 7th I have to re-appear in court and if I don't get my act straight i'm getting commited to dys.

I have only missed 1 day of school and that was because I wanted to get more work done because i was a little behind. My parents are worried that I'll be charged with truency for missing 1 day. The reason I did miss it was because the whole day we would be rehearsing a play that I wasn't even in, I wanted to get caught up in school, I'm worried now that I could get in big trouble for this, we'll someone please tell me if Im gonna be in trouble for missing one day of school, im worried sick
