Question: A person got hate mail and blamed it on me, and he called the cops. I didn’t send it.. what can I do?

Answer: If the police did not charge you with anything (and it sounds from your question that they did not), then you probably do not need to do anything other than deny sending the hate mail. If they charged you with something, you need to deny sending the hate mail and get a lawyer to defend you against the charges. Even if you cannot afford a lawyer, you are entitled to have one appointed for you by the state.
