Question: Are there laws concerning how many hours of homework a school is allowed to assign?

Answer: No. There are no laws that regulate how much homework can be assigned. But many school districts have policies that set guidelines for homework based on grade level. A student or parent concerned about homework should ask the school principal if the school district has guidelines.

This semester I have engish, math and science all crammed into one fabulous semester.Tonight I have been given a four page opinion essay assignment in english, two pages of covalent and ionic bond work and a math test to study for tomorrow.I was informed of all of this today.I am currently on my second hour of homework and every mintue I am becoming more and more frustrated. When I'm not doing homework,I'm at a vocal, piano or theory class which are all necessary for the university program I want to enter into.I have almost no social life at all! I need a life that isn't just school.

i agree 100% with the idea that homework should be illeagle. homework dose give many students a large amount of stress after a full day of work. It is also causeing a large part of the children of america to rebel against school, which should really be a major issue society should steer their youth away from. many students of todays world state that they hate school, but the reason most of these kids dislike is because it takes up a large sum of what could be free time, and homework only gives us less of it when we finally get home from school. if it were banned these kids maybecome interested

Homework is not good and it takes up too much of our free time. I think we should have 30 minutes more of school so we can have the extra practice but we should have no homework. It is easier to concentrate at school than at home because at home you can get distacted.
