Question: Are there laws concerning how many hours of homework a school is allowed to assign?

Answer: No. There are no laws that regulate how much homework can be assigned. But many school districts have policies that set guidelines for homework based on grade level. A student or parent concerned about homework should ask the school principal if the school district has guidelines.

teachers are payed to work from 8-3 not farther and later in the day after school is assigned for after school activities not more school work if a teacher can't teach everything in a lesson in one time period why should we as kids be penelized for there slowness in teaching. my view is the better the teacher the less homework.i say if homework should stay legal then it should just be a mind refresher so that everything during that day impacted you and stuck in your mind.some subs today cant even teach certain classes and they have to assign us the work we shouls have completed that day.......

We go to school for 6 to 7 hours a day. Then they send us home for 2 or more hours of work to do. We have to go to bed early because they make us wake up very early. We also have family and lives. Homework just causes problems. It gets in the way of a lot of important things.

Homework I think requires a lot of time to do if you are a perfectionist, staying up late to finish projects and trying to make everything perfect. I myself am a perfectionist and stay up doing homework from 4:00 to 4:00 o'clock in the morning. I have one of these nights about once every 3 weeks or less. My normal night of homework I stay up to 12 midnight.
