Question: Are there laws concerning how many hours of homework a school is allowed to assign?

Answer: No. There are no laws that regulate how much homework can be assigned. But many school districts have policies that set guidelines for homework based on grade level. A student or parent concerned about homework should ask the school principal if the school district has guidelines.

I really do have a lot of homework! I mean I actually do think that we should get homework, because it is impossible to assimilate enough information without it. But, I do think that enough is enough. I am in 8th grade, taking 3 highschool gifted classes. Everynight the second I go home at 4 I begin my homework, and don't finish at an average until midnight. Many times it has gone on to 1 and 2 o'clock in the morning. That's about 8 hours or more a night! I even had to quit dance and all extra curricular activities.

I think we need homework just not on weekends. I mean you have to have homework to remember stuff, but on weekends? Thats our time not the teachers! It's not fair!

No one taught you manners! If you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all! Complaining is the American way - That doesn't mean the task gets any easier or that it won't get done... It's a release of stress! Talking/expressing opinions and discussing issues helps all feel better. Apparently, you feel that your above complaining by calling others names! You need to get out more! Learn how to interact with humans! Seems you need more of an education then the ones who are complaining!
