Question: Is it true that Arizona is the only state where possession of tobacco or tobacco products by minors is illegal?

Answer: As of February 28, 1997, Federal law does not allow retailers to sell cigarettes, tobacco, or smokeless tobacco to anyone under the age of 18. This law applies to all states. Laws regarding the possession of tobacco are left up to the individual states. Even though we have not been able to research all of the state laws, we do know that Arizona is not alone in the law prohibiting minors from possessing tobacco products.

Oh, and I'm absolutely sure your friend didn't know smoking was bad? I smoke and I am not a victim, and neither is anyone else who smokes. We've all known about what it does for years. Has it stopped many people? HAH!

In Connecticut the legal age to smoke is 16 but you have to be 18 to buy. Even though i am 18, i think this is a dumb law. ive been smoking for a while and i think they should lower the smoking age to 16. we can get them other ways anyway, plus i wasted over $1000 on underage smoking fines growing up, and taxpayers wasted even more because i had to go to court for it.
