Question: If a minor is caught with alcohol and the police officer writes down their name but does not take them to the police station, will this go on their record?

Answer: The police officer has several choices in this case. Sometimes a warning is given and nothing else is done. Sometimes the name is put on a 'field card' which is used to keep track of people who frequently cause problems. The officer might also choose to write a report about the incident and then give the report to juvenile court. If through juvenile court some type of consequences are given for the offense, the record will show the consequences and will also show the person's level of cooperation.

I am from Ironwood, Michigan and all the cops do up here is look for underage drinkers. This is the worst town to live in if you ever want to have fun without being paranoid. At parties when they show up, they have about 50 pbt's with them. Some kids blow .02 and they still issue them tickets. If we can fight for our country, vote, and be considered an adult in this country then why can't we have a lousy beer and be treated like an adult?

I was written a ticket for an MIP. I had 2 bottles of beer in my car when we got pulled over, but I was not driving my car (my friend was). I was never given a breathalizer. I am wondering if this is possibly a warning, or if I am going to have an MIP on my record and going to have to pay a fine. Is it possible to only go to some kind of classes and not get the MIP on my record?
